A Lavender Journey
Our lavender story
A 10 acre parcel of land was purchased in the early 90's, that had one tree growing on it.We built a house and started planting pine and spruce trees, throughout the property. Eight years later with nearly twelve hundred trees planted. We had the opportunity to purchase the 10 acre parcel of land next door. This land, next door would become Hidden Spruce Lavender.
Sixteen years later on a beautiful Saturday morning at a local farmer's market. A lovely women was selling lavender. This is where it all started. Our sandy loam soil was great for growing lavender. We planted a couple dozen lavender plants, that turned into a couple hundred in the backyard. Another opportunity came along to purchase several thousand lavender plants. A chance of a life time, that we just couldn't pass up! Our backyard became too small very quickly. One can never have too many lavender plants! My husband suggested to plant on the parcel next door. The farm has grown to over 4000 plants and still growing. We distill some of the lavender to use in our products that we sell here at the farm. We are now also propagating our own lavender plants. We don't just grow lavender here at the farm. We grow several varieties of cut flowers, along with many perennial flowers.
Our lavender and flower beds aren't visible, from just simply driving by the farm, their hidden by the spruce trees! That's how we came to name our farm. It's like a whole other world once you make the journey to Hidden Spruce Lavender Farm. We're thankful to God, who has given us this wonderful opportunity to care and nurture what He created. Cultivating love is the theme at Hidden Spruce Lavender Farm! We even spelled out the word LOVE using lavender plants in one of our lavender beds. It's that important to us.
